Working Together
We believe the best outcomes happen when families are involved.
We work closely with parents and caregivers throughout the counselling process and, where appropriate, offer parent sessions to provide additional guidance and support.
How the Process Works
1. Initial Enquiry
Get in touch to discuss your concerns and whether counselling may be helpful for your child or young person.
2. Parent Consultation (Children 14 and under)
A parent consultation is required before counselling begins. This helps us understand your child’s needs, family situation and the difficulties they may be experiencing. It also provides space to discuss goals for counselling and answer any questions.
3. Counselling Sessions
Following consultation, your child or young person will be matched with an appropriate counsellor and sessions can begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long are sessions?
Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes.
How many sessions will my child need?
We usually begin with an initial block of six sessions before reviewing progress together and discussing next steps.
Will I receive feedback about my child’s sessions?
Confidentiality is important in counselling. We do not provide detailed feedback after each session, but we will always contact you if there are any concerns about safety or wellbeing. A review is offered after the initial block of sessions.
Do you offer online counselling?
Yes, we offer both online and face-to-face counselling. However, we generally recommend face-to-face sessions for children and young people where possible.
What if my teenager is unsure about attending counselling?
It is very normal for young people to feel unsure at first. We often suggest starting with an initial session so they can meet their counsellor, ask questions and decide whether counselling feels right for them.
